CALCULATORS

Calculation of Tonnage Values - Asphalt or Aggregate Base Materials

Current Usage    Method A

12.5 pounds per square foot at one (1) inch thick, which covers 160 SF per ton of material. This value is equivalent to 150 pounds per cubic foot of material.

Example:

100,000 SF of area x 2.5 inch section divided by the coverage of 160 SF per SF/ inch is:
(100,000 x 2.5)/160= 250,000= 1,562.5 tons

NOTE: THE ABOVE TONNAGES INCLUDE VARIOUS VARIABLES,
COMPACTION AND SUBSIDENCE FACTORS.
